The 303 hp 5.3L V8 engine in Monte Carlo SS features Active Fuel Management. It shuts down four of eight cylinders in low-demand situations, which can increase fuel efficiency by as much as eight percent.† When more power is needed, the cylinders are reactivated instanteously and virtually seamlessly.
